There was a distinct chill in the air, which was quickly dispelled by the warm camaraderie of fellow hikers as we gathered in the Rite Aid parking lot. An hour later we met up with Scott and Patricia at the Applegate Lake Da-Ku-Be-Te-De trail head to begin our adventure.
The five of us (Janet, Joe, Mike, Patricia and Scott) proceeded down the trail, basking in the day’s sunshine while energetically conversing on many important, and some not so important, subjects. The trail was in great shape with the exception of some recent dead fall that had to be quasi cleared so we could pass.
We arrived at our lunch spot at 11:54 am, 6 minutes earlier than planned. If John had been leading the hike it would have been precisely at 12 noon. Unfortunately John was not able to join us today, so the leadership was left to a less experienced hiker, myself (Joe).
The return to the trail head was as enjoyable as the outbound trip, with many world problems being solved along the way. A stop at Boomtown in Jacksonville for libations before returning to Rite Aid, capped a perfectly wonderful day with friends.
Make it a great life,
