It was raining when we met at Safeway this morning, it was raining on the drive to the TH, it was raining when we got out of the cars at the TH, and then it stopped, just as we began hiking. The rest of the day was mostly sunny, with no rain, and temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s.
To shake things up a bit we did the Prospectors Loop on the way to lunch. We haven't done this trail in years. It's a nice loop up and around the ridge. However, there was a bit of mutinous talk when we got back to the Dagelma Trail and it was discovered that we had only made about 100 yards of progress towards lunch.
We had lunch on Hal's Point and then decided to boldly walk directly back across Applegate Lake. This is not as impressive as it might seem due to the current very low lake inflow.
On the way back we stopped at the Country Club and enjoyed our usual fare.
