It should be about 6 to 7 miles total for the day's hike. Weather Forecast  RT mileage: 40 miles.

October 30: North Elk Creek Park  Hike Leader: Rich Stickle
TH: From Rite Aid head north on I-5 to North Medford Exit 30, Crater Lake Highway. From Exit 30 head up Highway 62 for 25 miles to a left onto Elk Creek Road. A few miles up we will leave a shuttle then head back up the main road to about mile 9  to Homesteader's TH. Here we'll explore upper Elk Creek Park and follow the trail down the creek and then turn left for a mile to the uncompleted dam. After lunch at the dam we return a mile or two to the road and the shuttle car. Note: The area is controlled by the Corp of Engineers who were to have built a huge dam, creating  a lake to compliment Applegate Lake and Lost Creek Lake. This was a result of the Great Flood of 1964 and those who have done the Lower Rogue Hike have seen the high water mark, the height of which is hard to believe. A third of the dam was completed before the project was cancelled.  Weather forecast. RT mileage: 110 miles.
